Caren Lee Febo née Crawford, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away Oct. 8, 2025, at the age of 59. Born Jan. 22, 1966, in Long Branch, Caren was a spirited soul who spent her formative years in Union Beach. Her life was a testament to the joy and warmth she brought to everyone around her.

Caren’s early years were filled with the close-knit bonds of family and community. She was the cherished daughter of Frank Crawford and the late Margaret Crawford. Caren’s vibrant spirit was matched by her siblings, Christina Crawford, Catherine Crawford, and her twin sister, Caroll Ehnot, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond, along with her nephews, Connor Dillon and Steven Ehnot, and her niece, Maria Ferrara. Caren’s life was further enriched by the love and companionship of Theile “Mike” Riordan, who stood by her side with unwavering support and affection.

Her journey took her to Ohio for a brief period, where she embraced new experiences and friendships. However, her heart remained tethered to New Jersey, where she eventually returned, rekindling her connection with her roots and the community she held dear.

Professionally, Caren dedicated herself to the noble calling of nursing. As a registered nurse, she extended her innate compassion and care to those in need, touching countless lives with her kindness and expertise. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her involvement in various associations, where she contributed her time and energy to better the lives of others.

Caren’s zest for life was evident in her many interests. She had an infectious sense of humor and an affinity for hats, each one reflecting her playful and unique personality. Thrift shopping was more than a hobby for Caren; it was a treasure hunt for the quirky and the quaint, a pursuit that brought her immense joy and satisfaction.

Those who knew Caren will remember her for her loving nature, her faith-filled heart and her ability to find humor in the everyday. She never believed in farewells, always parting with a hopeful “See you later,” a phrase that encapsulated her optimistic outlook on life and the hereafter.

Caren’s legacy is carried on by her sons, Cody and Corey Febo, who embody her spirit of generosity and joy. Her family, a testament to the love she fostered, will continue to honor her memory by living out the values she instilled in them.

As family and friends say “See you later” to Caren Lee Febo, they celebrate a life lived with passion, laughter and an unwavering faith in the goodness of people. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched, a reminder of the difference one person can make in the world. Caren’s journey on Earth may have concluded, but her story will continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know her.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A service will conclude the evening.
