Carolyn M. McKulchyk passed away peacefully Aug. 10, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born May 16, 1930, in Newark, she was the beloved daughter of the late William and Alliene Marsh. Carolyn’s early years in Newark were filled with fond memories she carried with her throughout her life. She later made her home in Hillside and eventually settled in Middletown, a community she cherished and where she left an indelible mark.

A devoted nurse at Riverview Hospital, Carolyn dedicated her professional life to providing care, comfort and compassion to countless patients. Outside the hospital, she worked side-by-side with her husband for decades to help run Adam’s Garage, becoming a trusted and familiar face to neighbors and friends.

Carolyn was a woman of many talents and quiet joys. She was an avid knitter, often creating handmade treasures for loved ones, and a devoted fan of “The Lawrence Welk Show.” Her commitment to her community was steadfast; she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Port Monmouth VFW, offering unwavering support to veterans and their families. She also worked for many summers at Monmouth Day Camp, a role that not only connected her to generations of local families but also allowed her grandchildren to attend and create lasting memories.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Alliene and Alan Matonti; her eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her love and guidance in their hearts. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Adam; her daughters, Gail Gill and Nina Runge; and her sisters, Nina Grohgan and Betty Tiernan.

Carolyn will be remembered for her kindness, strength and the way she made every person feel cared for, whether in a hospital room, at the garage or around her kitchen table. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
