Catherine Belle of Middletown, beloved mother, sister, granny, aunt and friend, born Sept. 25, 1948, passed away peacefully Oct. 6, 2023, at 75 years old.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband of 36 years Eugene, her son Robert, brother John, and niece Dalene.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher and Eugene, her daughters-in-law, Dana and Dawn, and her grandchildren, Samantha, Connor, Ryan and Alexandra. She is also survived by siblings, Elizabeth, Anne and Michael, and her nieces and nephews, Donna, Kayla, Patricia, Anthony and Jonathan, as well as grandnephew Anthony and grandniece Victoria.

Catherine made her home in Middletown where she was a retired office manager.

She was born in Stevenston/Ayrshire, Scotland. In 1968, she immigrated to the United States and soon after, met and married her husband Gene with whom she raised three sons.

Catherine was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and trivia. She spent time in Scotland, Canada and Australia where she was able to connect with family and friends from home.

She was an active member of the PTA and often volunteered to run school functions and charitable events. She worked as a school secretary and crossing guard and was a constant and vocal fixture at her sons’ sporting events. She eventually found her calling as an office manager and worked for four different dentists in the same practice for over 30 years. 

A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A funeral home service will commence at 7 p.m.

Catherine loved animals and would be grateful if donations in lieu of flowers were made to the Monmouth County SPCA at monmouthcountyspca.org.
