Catherine Germano

427

Catherine Germano of Holmdel died March 14, 2024. She was born and raised in Brooklyn to the late Mary and Jack Mentesana.

Catherine enjoyed a stellar career at NBC working in the news division for several well-known television news anchors. Her strong business acumen afforded her a successful 30-year career at NBC, during which she made many important contributions.

Catherine was a true visionary. She had a fierce, creative, spirit. This was evident in her strong sense of style, her eye for quality and perfection, and her ability to create clothing/jewelry designs, knitting, painting and her impeccable, elegant gift wrapping, which always caught the eye of many.

She was an avid collector of antiques and was especially proud of her impressive collection of McCoy pottery. She always said, “I think I have the largest collection of white McCoys next to Martha Stewart.” She loved the thrill of finding unique pieces and regularly shopped at antique stores and local flea markets.

Catherine was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Jack Mentesana and Rosemarie Bianco. She is survived by her beloved husband, Felix Germano; her son Jason and his wife Briana Germano of Morganville; her daughter Jill Germano of Matawan; and her six loving grandchildren, Isabella, Giovanni Carlo, Valentino, Brinley, Gianluca and Nicholas.

A graveside service was March 21 at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum, Morganville. In lieu of traditional remembrances, the family asks with gratitude that donations in Catherine’s memory be made to the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
