Christa E. Alonso, 95, of Navesink, passed away peaceful at home Nov. 2, 2022. She was born in Germany in 1927 and relocated to the United States at the age of 7.   

When she was 26, she went on a blind date and met the love of her life, John Alonso. They married once he returned from service in Korea, and moved to Navesink in 1955 where they resided for 67 years.

Christa worked as a seamstress at Saks 5th Avenue in New York City, prior to devoting her time to raise two children. She also worked at Steinbach in Red Bank in the late 1970s.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, John; son John C. (Florence) Alonso; daughter Janice (Michael) Skirka; five grandsons, Patrick (Frances) Alonso, Jonathan (Heidi) Alonso, Jason (Christy) Alonso, Brian Skirka, and Kevin (Kimberly) Skirka; 14 great-grandchildren; and her cousin Ralph Kunze.   

A memorial service followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Middletown. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live streamed at wpcmiddletown.org.
