Christopher Preuster, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Middletown, passed away July 21, 2024, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Patricia née Ricci; his seven children, Felicia Machado (Wally), Christopher (Elizabeth), Christa, Maria, Dolores Haas (John), Anthony and Nicholas (Lauren); his five grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Michael, Lucia and Elaine; and his brother-in-law, Jeffrey Ricci.

Chris was born April 16, 1942, in the Forest Hills section of Newark to William and Bertha Preuster. He was always proud of the Jesuit education he received at Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, where he graduated with a degree in accounting. Chris developed a sharp business acumen, which culminated in his rise to president of two international companies in the film industry: The Walter Reade Organization and Bonded Services. He retired after over 35 years in the industry but always held onto his love of cinema.

Chris also enjoyed golf, good food and games of chance. He will be remembered for his empathy, sense of humor and storytelling. No matter the situation, he always knew the right thing to say.

Visitation for family and friends was July 24 the John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 25 at St. Leo the Great Church in Lincroft. Interment followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to The American Heart Association. Please visit Christopher’s memorial website at johnedayfuneralhome.com.
