FAIR HAVEN – Fair Haven Cub Scouts Pack 127 came out for a scavenger hunt throughout town Saturday, July 11, to have some fun and learn about their community.

“Our goal was to find a way to get the Scouts outside and active, learning and interacting with the community,” said Darrel Golden, assistant Cubmaster, “while still adhering to social distancing guidelines.”

Small groups, armed with a clue to start, traveled to locations throughout town, discovering a special community member and receiving a new clue at each stop. Their journey brought them throughout town to places like the police station where they spoke with Officer Mike Campanella; Viola L. Sickles School to meet Principal Marilyn Schwartz; the Williams, Albert and Robards Park to talk to a Betsy Koch, town council liaison to the parks and recreation department; Memorial Park to meet Mayor Ben Lucarelli; and the firehouse where they met Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Countryman and 1st Lt. Roxanne Keane. At each stop the Scouts learned about that person’s job and how he or she contributes to the community. The teams then received another clue to continue their hunt.

Scouts and families were rewarded with ice cream from Nicholas Creamery when they made it to all the stops.
