Bennie J. Curci, 84, of Belford, passed away suddenly at home Nov. 11. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and lived in Belford for over 40 years.

Ben proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ben had a long career as a business owner. He later worked as a superintendent of Middletown Township Parks and Recreation for more than 20 years. He was an elder and active member of the Leonardo Baptist Church.

Ben was a 40-plus year volunteer for the Middletown Youth Athletic Association Soccer Association, a founding member of the Middletown Soccer Club and served as a member of the executive staff for Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association and NJ Youth Soccer for numerous years. He spent many years as a head coach, referee and mentor to the coaches, parents and players in New Jersey.

Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Camille Curci, Jeffrey and Barbara Curci; two sisters, Marie Cicalese and Harriet Sponyoe; brother Michael Curci; grandchildren, Robert, Kimberly, Kaitlyn and Michele Curci, and Michael and Nicholas Carpenter. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Elizabeth Curci.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 14 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery.
