Daria Renee Amoroso-McCue, age 40, passed away peacefully July 7, 2021, after a heroically fought battle with FTD (frontotemporal dementia). A beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and social worker, Daria remains in our hearts forever as a kind and generous young woman.

She was born Sept. 21, 1980, in Long Branch and was raised by Michael and Renee Amoroso. She attended Shore Regional High School (crowned homecoming queen!) and then went on to graduate from Monmouth University with a master’s degree in social work. She married James Anthony McCue Jr. and together they made two beautiful twin children, Kendall Renee and Logan James McCue, born Oct. 3, 2013. Daria served proudly as a social worker for the Division of Child Protection and Permanency where she supported hundreds of families and ensured the safety and well-being of Monmouth County’s children. At work and at home, Daria calmed and delighted everyone with her gentle, soft-spoken energy and sweet countenance.

Family, friends and others whose lives Daria touched were invited to the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, July 11. A funeral service and remembrances took place there.

The family would like to express its thanks for the incredible support and care received from friends and the community at large. The meals, the prayers and the hope have kept them strong and they are eternally grateful as Daria is up in heaven.

In Daria’s memory the family strongly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at theaftd.org.
