Marie E. Defino, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7. Marie was born in Newark and resided in Middletown for many years before moving to Ocean. She wintered in Crystal River, Florida.
She retired as a math supervisor employed by the Middletown Township Board of Education after 32 years of service. Marie was a parishioner at Holy Innocents Church in Neptune. She was also a member of the “Knitwits,” a knitting club in Cedar Village. Marie was a graduate of Newark State Teacher’s College, Newark and obtained her master’s degree in education from Kean University, Union.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank; and two of her brothers, Alphonse and Joseph Porcello.
Marie is survived by her son, Joseph F. Defino and his wife Carleen of Wall; her daughter, Dr. Maria Whitsett and her husband, W. Hayden Whitsett of Austin Texas; her sister, Yvonne Defino and her husband Nicholas of Essex Fells; her brother, Eugene Porcello of Cedar Grove; and her grandchildren, Joseph and Collin Whitsett and Ryan and Adam Wheeler.
