Deisler, Marie, Age: 68, Rumson

1047

Marie Deisler, 68, passed away Jan. 26 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Newtown, Pennsylvania, after a long illness. Marie was loved by many people. She grew up in Rumson and, after spending time in Idaho, Pennsylvania and Georgia, returned home to Rumson to care for her father who had become ill. Most recently, she resided in Stockton with her companion Wayne Wallace.

Marie taught developmentally challenged children and in later years was a mediator for the State of New Jersey Department of Education in Trenton. She retired from the state after 15 years.

Marie is predeceased by her mother Julia; father Jack; and brothers, Jack and Francis. She is survived by her nephew Christian Deisler and his mother Ronnie in Pennsylvania; her companion Wayne Wallace; and all her friends who loved and cherished her. She will be missed by us all.

She was always a good friend: witty; creative, fashion forward – always with great earrings – fun-loving, smart and caring. She was compassionate, always helping those in need. In recent years she befriended an older neighbor in failing health and spent many hours and days caring for her, driving her to doctor’s visits, helping with maintaining her home and just being a good friend. Marie was always there, for whoever needed her. That was Marie.

A Mass was celebrated in Marie’s honor Feb. 14 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Rumson. The Mass was attended by many, including her devoted friends, as well as children from Holy Cross School, which Marie had attended.

Wayne Wallace will be hosting a celebration of her life in the spring in Stockton.
