Dieter J. Bornemann, an active Red Bank resident and businessman for over 30 years, passed away Dec. 3, 2021, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dieter, born in Cologne, Germany, emigrated to the U.S. as a young man. He worked as a chef at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas before settling in Red Bank.
Dieter and his partner, Jimmy Borden of Shrewsbury, opened their first restaurant on Monmouth Street, calling it The Little Kraut.
In 1979 they relocated to 115 Oakland St. where the new Little Kraut was in operation for 30 years.
Dieter was actively involved with the Red Bank Chamber of Commerce and for many years rode on the train at Christmas dressed in a Santa suit, bringing cheer to so many children.
Dieter was pre-deceased by a brother, Horst, in Cologne.
His beloved partner, Jimmy, passed away in 2018, while retired in Las Vegas.
Dieter and Jimmy are now resting in peace together.
