Doris White Vernon, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many, passed away Feb. 14, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born May 7, 1928, in New York City to the late Brittan and Hazel White.

Doris spent her early years in the Bronx before her family moved to the family farm in Neptune in 1945. In 1967, she, her husband and young family settled in Middletown, where Doris would spend the rest of her life.

Doris was a strong and independent woman who faced life’s challenges with resilience and determination. Even after the passing of her beloved husband Vernon C. Vernon in 2005, she continued to live independently in her own home. Her unwavering spirit and self-sufficiency were truly inspiring.

Family was at the center of Doris’ life and she cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones and created countless cherished memories with them. Doris’ love and support were unwavering and her family will forever be grateful for the love she showered upon them.

Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Susan White; her daughters, Wanda White and Valerie Vernon; her brother Brittan White Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Susan White. Doris was also a beloved grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband Vernon C. Vernon, her son Gary, her daughter Gail and her sister Gloria.

Doris White Vernon will be remembered for her strength, independence and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
