Dorothy J. De Cicco

1033

Dorothy J. De Cicco, 93, of Belford, passed away April 18, 2022, in Holmdel. She was born in 1929 in Oak Hill, West Virginia and, although she spent more than 65 years in the Belford section of Middletown, she always considered herself a farm girl.

Dorothy was the youngest of 12 on that farm and devoted her whole life to her brothers and sisters. She was equally devoted to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 1945 she married her husband, Alexander De Cicco, who served as a U.S. Marine in the Pacific and settled in his hometown of South Orange before moving to Middletown in 1956. It was there they raised a family: Georgia Anne, Alexander, Anthony, Albert and Theresa were her children. All attended Middletown schools and lived and worked in Middletown for many years.

Dorothy was very involved with her community, as she was a member of the Board of Electors as well as the Board of Education in Middletown.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander W. DeCicco; father William Lewis; mother Savannah Petry; and daughter Georgia Anne Perry.

Surviving are her three sons, Alexander De Cicco of Denton, Texas, Anthony De Cicco (Jennye) of Lincroft, Albert De Cicco (Kathleen) of Maryland, and daughter Theresa De Cicco who lived with Dorothy in Belford.

Visitation was held April 22 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral Mass was offered April 23 at Mary, Mother of God Church, Middletown. Her final resting place will be Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution in Dorothy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
