Edward G. DePascale, age 87, of Shrewsbury, died Sept. 3, 2023, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center of a stroke suffered Aug. 24, 2023.
Edward was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Jerome and Josephine DePascale. He was a graduate of the Scotland School for Veterans Children in Scotland, Pennsylvania, and the Bowman Technical School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, graduating as a Certified Master Watchmaker. He was recruited by Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill where he worked on the Telstar project in 1961. He retired from then AT&T Bell Laboratories, now Nokia Bell Labs.
Edward is survived by his wife Dorothy of 67 years of Shrewsbury, his sisters, Vicki Herrell of Colorado and Roseann Hamrick of Michigan, and his brother David DePascale of Ohio. He is also survived by his niece Vicki DeNoia (Dr. Anthony DeNoia) of Rumson, and Jere (John Wilson) of Washington, and many other extended family members around the country.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Peter and Albert, and sister Gloria.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, NJ 07724 in memory of Edward.
