Eileen H. Garvin (née Poling) left us June 23, 2021. She was born in Red Bank and resided in Eatontown for 38 years. Eileen was a 1960 Freehold Regional High School graduate. She enjoyed horseback riding, gymnastics, sewing and ice skating. Eileen went on to receive her L.P.N. from Princeton Hospital School of Practical Nursing. She married Gerry Nevad in 1963 and had two sons. In 1975 she remarried and had a daughter.

She worked at Riverview Medical Center for five years before joining Dr. John B. Movelle’s office in Fair Haven for 27 years while working private duty jobs on the side.

Eileen enjoyed traveling to visit family in Northwood, New Hampshire, Florida and Virginia. She was her mother’s caregiver for 20 years while always helping out a friend or neighbor in need. She enjoyed social gatherings with her friends and loved weekly trips to the diner for lunch.

Her pastimes included crossword puzzles, buying scratch-offs and playing games on her Kindle while watching HGTV and NCIS. Daily phone calls to her son, daughter and grandkids were a highlight of her day. She made friends wherever she went and always greeted you with a smile and enjoyed a good laugh.

Eileen was predeceased by her parents Gerard and Lillian Poling; son Todd Nevad; ex-husbands Jim Garvin and Gerry Nevad; and niece Danielle Russo.

Eileen was extremely devoted to her family and will be sorely missed. She is survived by son Pete (Jill) Nevad; daughter Kelly (Jay) Roman; and four grandchildren, Matt, Josh, Nick and Sofia; Todd’s girlfriend Florence (Pinky) Houston; sister Linda (Nick) Russo, Virginia; nieces, nephews and many cousins she adored and loved.

A memorial gathering was held July 8 with a service at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. In lieu of flowers consider donating in Eileen’s honor to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org or Monmouth County SPCA at monmouthcountyspca.org.
