Emily M. Jenkins Worden, age 93, peacefully passed in her sleep early in the morning Jan. 15, 2023.

She started her career as a telephone operator until she had her first child. After having four children she returned to college and established long career in bookkeeping. She was fortunate to work for private law firms as well as nonprofits and was able to take them from paper and pencil into computers.

Emily was an avid reader and had many hobbies, including ceramics, bowling, cross stitch, playing card games, sudoku and word finders. Her biggest commitment was being a devout Christian. Emily was a proud member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Red Bank. She dedicated her time in many ways to help spread the word of God, such as being a Sunday school teacher, acolyte mother, alter guild member, choir member and delegate to the Dioceses of New Jersey. Emily was the first female lay reader and chalice bearer of the church. She also established and was president of the local chapter of the Daughter of the Kings.

From the age of 80 to 86, Emily was fortunate enough to become a snowbird and became an active part-time parishioner at Holy Presence Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Red Hat Club.

Wherever her help was needed, Emily made sure to be there. She traveled and shared her loving and caring heart with all, especially her family.

Emily is predeceased by her parents, James C. and Margaret A. Weeks, and siblings James and Frederick.

She is survived by sibling Nancy and sister-in-law Catherine; children Edward and wife Suzanne, Margaret and husband Robert, Barbara and husband Stephen, Henry and wife Leah; grandchildren Tammy, Courtney and husband Edward, Kevin and Samantha, Matthew, Shannon and husband Paul, Lauren and Brandon, Thomas and Lucy; great-grandchildren Liam, Sadie, Mason and Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews too numerous to name.

Visitation was Jan. 18 at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. A funeral service was held Jan. 19 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Red Bank. Interment followed at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated for Trinity Episcopal Church, Red Bank.
