Joan Esposito, 81, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on April 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. She was born Joan Bartnik on August 17, 1934 in Jersey City, where she grew up. After marriage, Joan and her husband, Antonio, settled in Hazlet to raise their family.

Before retirement, Joan worked for Lily Tulip Company for over 20 years, and after receiving her associates degree, went on to work for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and as an insurance agent.

She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Union Beach. She was a member of the Hazlet VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #4303, a member of the American Legion Post #321 in Union Beach, and a lifetime member of the Deborah Foundation.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Viola (Toffel) Bartnik; and her beloved husband, Antonio “Tony” “Espo” Esposito. Joan is survived by her loving children, Marie Esposito Cairns and her husband, Gregory, of Newton, North Carolina, and John Anthony Esposito of Hazlet; her cherished grandchildren, Danielle Marie Cairns, Gregory Joseph Cairns and Anthony William Cairns; her adored great-granddaughter, Arabella Rowe; and many special nieces and nephews, especially Constance and Edward Velasquez.

Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet, was in charge of arrangements.
