Fair Haven Mayor Benjamin Lucarelli issued a press release Tuesday acknowledging “the very sad and untimely passing” of Special Police Officer Robert Henne.
A funeral mass has also been scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at The Church of the Nativity, 150 Ridge Road in Fair Haven, with visitation to be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
Henne died in his family’s home in Fair Haven on Monday, said Luccarelli. He grew up in Fair Haven and attended Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. He was also a graduate of the 39th Class of The Monmouth County Police Academy.
“Officer Henne’s life goal was to be a Police Officer and he served the Borough in an exemplary manner as a Special Officer Class I, since April 11, 2011 and a Special Officer Class II, since December 17, 2012,” said the mayor.
It was a year ago, on March 24, 2014, that Officer Henne was given a life saving award by the Fair Haven governing body, for saving the life of a borough resident while on duty.
Officer Henne also served his community as a Fire Department member, since February 28, 2011.
“Officer Henne was well liked and respected by all who knew and worked with him. On behalf of the entire Community of Fair Haven, I would like to offer our thoughts, prayers, and support, to his family and many friends during this very difficult time, ” said the mayor.
