Fred “Fritz” Farwell, 86, of Atlantic Highlands, passed away surrounded by his family and friends Jan. 28 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was born in Fair Haven and lived in Atlantic Highlands for most of his life.
Fritz was the captain of his family’s party boat, The Happy, then worked as a boat captain for NOAA for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was an avid boater, fisherman and all around talented handyman.
Surviving are his two daughters, Lori (Kevin) Dunn and Nancy (Ronnie) Acerra; three sons, Earl Farwell (Wayne Strobel), Jeffrey Farwell, and Fred (Gale) Farwell; grandchildren, Jennifer, Kevin, Ashley and Christian; brother James Farwell; sister Betty Murphy; and his beloved pet chihuahua Daisy.
Fritz was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne Farwell in 2017 and his son Bobby Farwell in 2018.
Visitation was held Feb. 2 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Burial followed at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
