Florence Joy Bainton, 95, of Little Silver, passed away peacefully Aug. 24, 2024. She was born to William Joy and Mary Nelson in Flushing, New York, and resided in Rumson for most of her life.
Before Florence got married and took on the jobs of homemaker and family caretaker, she owned a hat shop in Red Bank, Floy Joy’s Hat Shop, where she shared her keen eye for style with her customers.
She was a proud communicant of Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven.
Florence was predeceased by her loving daughter Mary Joy who passed away in 1994. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Lewis. Robert passed away in 2002; he was the owner of B&B Beverage in Long Branch.
Florence is survived by her son William and his wife Anna.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sept. 16 at Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven. Interment will be private.
