Frank James Liotta, 76, of Monmouth Beach, died Aug. 24, 2025, at his home. He was best known as Jim or Jimmy by his friends and family.

Jim was a 1966 graduate of Long Branch High School. He earned a B.S. in mathematics from St. Lawrence University. Following college, Jim served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

After being honorably discharged, he began his career in technology as a COBOL programmer for Chubb and Son Co. Following Chubb, Jim went on to EAI in West Long Branch, where he was a scientific programmer was also granted a patent in software development. He met his wife, Mary Anne, at EAI.

Jim later served several companies in the same capacity before changing career paths to executive sales. He retired at the age of 58.

Jim enjoyed playing tennis with friends. In his youth, he spent days backpacking with his brother and friends. He loved playing games, including hearts, bridge and Scrabble. He would spend hours on his boat catching crabs in the Shrewsbury River.

Jim loved living near the beach and taking walks around town. He and Mary Anne enjoyed hosting dinner parties at their home. They also enjoyed traveling the world and got to see Europe, Asia and even Australia.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Anne O’Halloran Liotta; their sons and daughters-in-law, Alex Liotta and Zia and Chris Liotta and Alexandra Loprete; and his siblings, Alice Preville, Ricky Liotta and Ellen Kelly.

A memorial gathering and celebration of life were held Sept. 4. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation at parkinson.org.
