Freda Brach Yagiello

1482

Freda Brach Yagiello entered into eternal rest Oct. 26, 2021.

Freda was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, in 1930. Her parents moved to Jersey City after the depression, where she attended St. Anthony’s School.

Her family moved to Kearny in 1944, where Freda graduated from Kearny High School with honors. Loving sports, she played tennis, softball and basketball. She also participated in a Polish dance group which performed in Newark and Philadelphia. She attended Rutgers University and met Ray Yagiello in January 1950. They were married in December 1950 and moved to Asheville, North Carolina, while Ray was in graduate school. They had three children, Gary, Karen and Stanley. Since they both loved sports, they enjoyed playing golf, bowling, paddle ball and tennis together.

Freda and Ray owned a restaurant in Kearny in the 1970s. Freda later opened a boutique in Kearny, which she ran for 17 years, until they retired and moved to Virginia Beach in 1995. Ray became ill the following year and he passed away in 1999.

One of her greatest pleasures, besides entertaining and spending time with family, was designing and remodeling homes, kitchens and bathrooms.

Freda moved back to Tinton Falls in 2018 and passed away peacefully with her family at her side.

Freda is survived by her three children, her son-in-law Robert Lowe and her granddaughter Hannah Mei Lowe.

A celebration of life and memorial service is planned for 11:30 a.m. Dec. 3 at Tower Hill Church, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank. Friends and family are welcome.
