Dennis A. Gannon, 65, of Middletown, died July 26 at his home. He was born in Newark to the late Bernard and Mildred Gannon. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Mary’s Parish.

Dennis is a graduate of Essex Catholic High School and of Seton Hall University, where he was a lifelong supporter of the men’s basketball program. As an avid sports fan, he frequented Seton Hall men’s basketball games and cheered on Notre Dame football and the New York Mets from home.

Dennis was a dedicated CPA for over 30 years. His skill of being a human dictionary could be found in his love for doing crossword puzzles, which he completed daily. He also loved reading and weeding his yard. But most of all, he was a loving husband, father, uncle and brother. He was selfless, generous and compassionate to all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 35 years Linda; his son Brian Gannon; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Ashley Gannon; his daughter Courtney Gannon; his two brothers, Jeffrey (Barbara) Gannon and Mark Gannon; his nieces, Jaclyn, Marla and Melissa; and nephew Gregory; all of whom he loved dearly.

Visitation was held July 31 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Funeral services were Aug. 1 at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy was offered Aug. 1 at St. Mary’s Chapel, Middletown. Entombment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
