Gary Sable, 70, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. The world lost a great man who loved and was loved by so many people. Gary had a heart of gold and will be missed by many who knew of him and his kindness. He was born Oct. 30, 1952, in Perth Amboy.

He was predeceased by his father George, mother Germaine and brother Glen. Surviving is his brother Scott (Gordon) with whom he owned The Triangle Cafe in Perth Amboy from 1967 to 1997. Gary then opened That Hot Dog Place in Red Bank, making many friends in town, along with delicious soups and sandwiches.

After his retirement, he volunteered his cooking skills for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Keansburg at the community center and food pantry.

Besides his love of cooking, he loved watching all kinds of sports, especially horse racing. He loved dogs, feeding the birds outside his home, and his family and friends. He will be missed by his wife Marianne and family.

In respect of Gary’s wishes he was privately cremated. His cremated remains will be placed between his beloved doggies’ cremated remains at home like he wanted. We love and miss you, Poppi. Thank you for your kindness and all the memories we will forever cherish.

Donations in loving memory of Gary would be greatly appreciated and can be sent to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 240 Carr Ave., Keansburg NJ 07734. A memorial service for Gary will be announce at a future date.
