George Arthur Hill passed away Dec. 19, 2024, at the age of 95, surrounded by loved ones in Red Bank. Even though he battled cancer for two years, he was courageous and took the challenge on and stayed strong until the end.

George was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Jersey City and was the only child of George and Martha (Rommel) Hill. After graduating from high school, he earned a Bachelor of Science in marine engineering from Maritime College in 1950, followed by a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1961 and an MBA from Rutgers University in 1969.

In 1952, George met the love of his life, Faye Goellner of Teaneck, with whom he would go on to share 63 wonderful years of marriage and raise two children together.

George proudly served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1956 aboard the USS Coral Sea and later on the staff of the admiral of ComServLant in Norfolk, Virginia. Following his naval service, he sailed in the Merchant Marines as a 2nd assistant engineer for American Export Lines for two years, which allowed him to travel to various parts of the world.

Following his naval career, George worked as an engineer for several prominent corporations, including General Electric, Ingersoll Rand, IBM, Fairchild Camera and Instrument Company, and Englehard Industries.

He concluded his distinguished career as the president of Profit Impact Services, a management consulting and computer software firm based in Rumson. Under his leadership, the company developed numerous innovative software solutions for major corporations, including Citicorp, Boeing and RCA.

George was a proud lifelong member of MENSA and the author of numerous technical and business articles published in professional journals.

George enjoyed a long and fulfilling retirement, spending his time boating and fishing in New Jersey and cherishing summer vacations with his family at Cape Cod, Lake George and their second home in Cape May Point. He and Faye also lived briefly in Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina, where George enjoyed walking, woodworking and playing bridge. In 2015, they returned to New Jersey to reside at the Atrium at Navesink Harbor in Red Bank.

George was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Faye Goellner Hill. He is survived by his two cherished children, George R. Hill of Burgaw, North Carolina, and Susan Hill Spakowski and her husband Richard Spakowski of Rumson. George also leaves behind his two much-loved grandchildren, Richard Spakowski and his wife Laura of Leonardo and Zachary Spakowski and his girlfriend Rachel Wood of Greer, South Carolina.
