Gerald W. Hannay, 88, of Rumson, New Jersey, passed away Jan. 13. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Virginia Hannay, as well as his former wife Janneka Evans Hannay.
Gerald is survived by his wife Lois Judice Hannay; his sister Jean Bodine of Williamsburg, Virginia; his brother John Hannay “Beverly” of Williamsburg, Virginia; three children, James Hannay Sr. of Toms River, David Hannay and Ana of Summit, and Jeffrey Hannay of Stewartsville; and daughter-in-law Jenifer Hannay of Middletown. In addition he leaves behind two grandchildren, James Hannay Jr. “Katelyn” and Kaitlyn Hannay and one great-grandson Jacob Hannay, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends and Nicholas “dog.”
Gerry graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, graduated from Lehigh University and received his master’s degree at NJIT. He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was an industrial engineer and his career included a family foundry, Barnett, he managed and owned over several decades. He was also involved in renovating homes in New Jersey.
He enjoyed most tennis, sailing, swimming, jogging, walking, reading and puttering.
Services were held Jan. 20 at the Rumson Presbyterian Church and the burial was private.
