Helen Mount Marchetti

Helen Mount Marchetti, age 98, a lifelong resident of Atlantic Highlands, passed away peacefully Sept. 19, 2023. Born April 7, 1925, Helen lived her entire life in Atlantic Highlands.

Helen attended St. Agnes Grade School and Red Bank Catholic High School. She worked for New Jersey Natural Gas Company and was administrator at Atlantic Highands Nursing Home. During her retirement, Helen volunteered at the Atlantic Highlands Methodist Church Food Bank.

Helen loved “her town” with a passionate life of servitude. She was elected to the borough council and then became the first female mayor of Atlantic Highlands. Helen was also a member of the Atlantic Highlands Planning Board, the recreation council, the harbor commission and the school board. In addition to these, Helen was active in the Atlantic

Highlands Yacht Club, the historical society, the Lions Club (where she established a scholarship in honor of her late husband, Peter Marhetti), the Fire Department Ladies Auxillary, and St. Agnes Senior Club.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Wiliam and Anna Mount, her sister Elizabeth, brother Jack and husband Peter Marchetti and Lester Lienick. She is survived by nieces, Susan (Dan) Dyrek and Barbara (Bill) Kornek, and nephew John Mount and their families.

Visitation for Helen was held Sept. 25 at Posten-McGinley Funeral Home, Atlantic Highlands. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Helen’s name to Atlantic Highlands Local 242 PBA or Atlantic Highlands Fire Department.
