Jaime E. Padilla, 86, of Middletown, passed away Sept. 28. Jaime was born July 17, 1934 in Quito, Ecuador, a son of the late Maria and Luis Padilla. Jaime emigrated to America in 1963 and lived in Union City until moving in with his daughter and family two years ago.

Jaime belonged to the Laborers Union Local 1964 and worked as a merchandise receiver with Walsh Trucking for many years, retiring at the age of 70. When he was not working, Jaime could be found at home watching tennis, football or baseball games, but his favorite sport was soccer and he always followed the Ecuadorian teams. Jamie was mostly a private man who was devoted to his entire family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Jaime was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ana Maria Padilla, in 2002. He is survived by their son, Robert C. Padilla of Manhattan and their daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Rocco Marchetta of Middletown. He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Fernando and Rita Padilla, along with their daughter Rocio, and two beloved grandchildren, Michael Bramnick Padilla and Samantha Marchetta.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects Friday, Oct. 9 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 8-9 a.m. at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at St. Catherine’s Church, Middletown. A private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jaime’s memory may be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at NPCF.org or the American Diabetes Assoc. at diabetes.org/diabetes/donation.
