James “Jim” Stuart Cusick, 83, passed away Nov. 1, 2024, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. He was born in Binghamton, New York, to the late James A. Cusick and Margaret E. Cusick. James lived all over New Jersey throughout his life; he spent his final years in Tinton Falls and Shrewsbury.

Jim was a 1963 graduate of Bucknell University where he earned a degree in business administration. Shortly after finishing college he joined the Navy and sailed the seas, a post that he served till 1967. Afterwards, Jim worked at Citicorp, Kemper Asset Management, and served as president of AIMSE in the late 90s. In his later years, he worked as an executive interviewer for Greenwich Research Associates. During this time, he also served as president of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel.

Jim’s interests ran the gamut from World War II history to his treasured (and oft-maligned) Yankees/Giants to any John Wayne film, especially “The Searchers.” You could always find him reading or doing his crossword puzzle or greeting anybody and anyone who came his way. Overall, Jim’s career and interests were marked by his kindness, affability and famous sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Mary “Meg” Cusick, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his children, Kelly Zeiler (Steve), Kristen Clark (Nick), and Andrew Cusick (Erin), and seven grandchildren, Caitlyn, Matthew, Megan, Nicholas, Maeve, Liam and Wyatt.

A visitation was held Nov. 6 at the John E. Day Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jim’s memory to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial at 1 Memorial Lane, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
