Janet B. (Brower) Finnegan, 94, of Belford, passed away Oct. 31, 2021. Janet was born July 6, 1927, a daughter of the late Doris and Charles Brower. Janet was raised in West Long Branch; after marrying, she and her husband settled in Belford.

Janet was a registered nurse at Monmouth Medical Center for several years before starting her family. After becoming a mother, she was able to stay home a raise her eight children. She helped her husband for many years at his company, Thomas Finnegan Land Surveyor in Belford. Janet loved to stay active. She regularly worked out and always kept herself busy. She could often be found out in her yard gardening and, around the holidays, she enjoyed decorating the outside as well as inside the home. Janet will always be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and beloved Mom-Mom to all who knew her. 

Janet was predeceased by her husband Thomas Finnegan in 2009 and their son David in 2005. She is survived by her sons, Craig (Melissa) Finnegan, Gary Finnegan and Richard Finnegan, all of Belford, Michael (Diana) Finnegan of Port Monmouth and Peter (Laurie) Finnegan of Atlantic Highlands; and daughters Kathleen Brossa of Keyport and Karen Finnegan (Timothy McVay) of West Long Branch. Janet also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Vanessa, Michael, Jessica, Daniel, Jonathan, Rebecca, Alysa, Taylor and Thomas, and one great-grandson, Roger.

Friends and relatives paid their respects Nov. 5 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 6 at Mary, Mother of God Church in Middletown. The burial and committal followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
