Jayson F. Harvey

It is with great sadness that the family of Jayson F. Harvey announces his passing Oct. 1, 2022, in Neptune at the age of 78.

He was born in New York City in 1944. His life led him to Rumson where he attended Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. He excelled in varsity basketball and won the dubious honors of best personality and class flirt, which led him to win the heart of Lynn who would later become his wife in 1967. Jay owned a water conditioning company early in his career and was a leader at the Jersey Shore for clam purification. He also spent time in corporate America working for Home Depot and Culligan, after which he opened his own construction company which he ran up until recently as Jay was not one to keep still.

While raising a family Jay served on the Rumson First Aid Squad and Oceanic Hook & Ladder Fire company. He spent many years playing on the Oceanic softball team and even coached them to victory.

Jay had many passions: He loved spending time with friends and family, loved boating/fishing and being on the water, as well as fixing up his antique cars. He loved making people laugh and could make a jumping frog on command with a business card.

Jay leaves behind his best friend and wife of 55 years Lynn Harvey; their two children, Scott and Chris; Scott’s wife Robin, their children Ryan, Jessica and Mackenzie, their spouses and children; and Chris’s partner Amanda, his son Zachary, and her two children.

Arrangements by Thompson’s Memorial Home, Red Bank, will be private. Should you want to donate, please do so to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
