Joan C. Senese, 62, of Shrewsbury, died Feb. 17, 2021, at her home. Born in Plainfield, she grew up in Metuchen and lived for many years in Middletown. She attended East Carolina University where she received her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank where she served as a deacon and an elder. She was a perennial volunteer, most recently with the Monmouth County SPCA. She loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was known for caring for her loved ones and her community with generosity and humor – sharing a listening ear, a homemade meal and handmade card.

She was predeceased by her husband Daniel and her father William Cummings.

She is survived by her mother Beverly Cummings; two daughters, Margaret Senese and husband Thomas and Amy Eifler and husband Will; three grandchildren, Hazel, Alice and Wesley; her brother Alan Cummings; and her sister Susan Ritacco and husband Joseph.

Funeral services and burial are private. The family intends to plan a memorial service when people may gather together safely.

Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lunch Break in Red Bank or the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank.
