Joan Caroline Dangler Shea of Eatontown, formally of Rumson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born May 23, 1930 in Oakhurst, she lived in the Rumson-Fair Haven area most of her life before moving to Monmouth Beach and most recently with her son in Eatontown. She was the daughter of the late Roderic and Dorothy Dangler.

She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years James K. Shea Jr. in 2008. She is survived by her six children, Joan Clark and husband John of Shark River Hills; Dorothy Shea Cope and husband Bruce of Allen, Texas; James K. Shea III and wife Dossie of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Roderic Shea and wife Sue of Copper Hill, Tennessee; Frederick Shea and wife Joy of Eatontown; and Timothy Shea and wife Robin of Oceanport; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Dec. 29 at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 30 at St. James Roman Catholic Church of Red Bank. Burial was private.
