Joanne M. (D’Amico) Cataneo, 79, of Middletown, passed away Aug. 24, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Joanne was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Englewood. She was a graduate of Katharine Gibbs School and Brookdale School of Nursing. She worked at Riverview Hospital, New Ivy House and as a director of nursing at Regency Park Nursing Home.  

Joanne loved to read, do her crossword puzzles, play her word games on her iPad and try new recipes that she clipped from newspapers and magazines. She enjoyed socializing and playing Mahjong with her friends. Her greatest joys were the times she spent with her children and grandchildren. Her passing leaves a huge void in the family.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband Tom who passed in February 2019. She is survived by her three devoted children, Jennifer and Philip Bruno of Rumson, Meredith and Dan Kasun of Fair Haven, Mark and Jacquie Cataneo of Farmingdale; her beloved eight grandchildren, John, Anna, Olivia, Ashley, Matthew, Nikki, Michael and Thomas; and her best fur buddy, Roxy the cat.

A memorial gathering will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal organization of your choosing.
