Joanne S. Coleridge

Joanne S. “Jo Jo” Coleridge (née Schwarz), of Atlantic Highlands, passed away Aug. 6, 2022. She was born in Manhattan, New York, but lived her life on the Jersey Shore. She was 77.

If pressed she would say her proudest years were those nine spent at Bell Laboratories in Holmdel and the seven teaching Sunday school at Christ Episcopal Church in Middletown. Otherwise, it would be reading, knitting, trips to Atlantic City and making her angel food cakes.

She said thanks to God for “that boy next door,” her husband of 58 years, Jim. She thanked their children, Melissa and Barry, and their spouses, Mike and Becky, and also her sister-in-law Ellen, with a BIG thank you to her grandchildren, Sophie, Logan, Sarah and Emma.

If she were still here she would say she was grateful to all her friends and relatives for their prayers and support during her fight with cancer, especially the oncology nurse Maryann and staff at RCCA who helped her get through treatments and make going there not such a hard place. But she is not here so I will do it for her: the boy next door/beloved husband, Jim.

Family and friends were invited to visitation Aug. 10 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A graveside service was held Aug. 11 at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.
