John C. Molnar, 47, of Hazlet, died May 31, 2022, in Middletown. He was born on Staten Island, New York, and lived in Hazlet. John worked for the Middletown Township Sewerage Authority.

In 1991 at age 15 he began boxing for the Middletown P.A.L. He won 10 amateur titles, including the Golden Gloves three times, and the New Jersey ABF Championships three times. He was named the “Most Outstanding Boxer” in numerous tournaments he entered, and was voted “Amateur Boxer of the Year” by New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame in 1996. He became a professional boxer in 2000. He finished his professional career with a record of 20-2-2 with 10 knockouts.

John was also a caring family man who loved his family. He would do anything for those he loved and was always the life of the party.

Surviving are his son John Molnar Jr.; two daughters, Sarah Molnar and Gianna Molnar; mother Joanne Molnar; fiancé Carla Salino; four brothers, Frank (Nikki) Molnar, Michael (Linda) Molnar, Shawn Molnar and Richard (Cristy) Molnar; sister Stacy Swarrow; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his wife Bridget M. Molnar and his father Frank A. Molnar Sr.

Visitation was June 6 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral Mass was offered June 7 at St. Catherine’s Church, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution in John’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
