John D. Shaw (Jack), 89, of Holmdel, passed away peacefully June 10, 2024.
Jack was born May 2, 1935, in Jersey City. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1956. Jack was the postmaster of the Middletown Post Office until his retirement in 1990. He was elected the Exalted Ruler of the Matawan chapter of the Elks in the 1980s.
Jack had great love for his family, great pride in his country and a deep appreciation for music and the joy it brings. One of his favorite quotes was, “It’s nice to be nice.” May he rest in peace.
Jack is survived by his wife of 68 years Mary née Bull. Their wedding anniversary was June 25 – they were married almost 69 years. Jack is also survived by his children, John (Margot), Mary Rodriguez (Jorge), Veronica Vezeris (David), Karen Baum (William), Thomas (Gillian) and Douglas (Jeanette) and his 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
