Josephine Falvo Scott

Josephine Falvo Scott, a Middletown resident, passed away peacefully May 14, 2021 at the grand ole age of 97 years young. Josephine spent her formative years in her beloved Gravesend, Brooklyn where she raised four children with her husband Thomas.

While lovingly bringing up her children and caring for her mother Francesca (who graced this earth for 103 years), Josephine also was a valued employee at Korvette’s Department store. An avid music lover, Josephine was a fan of “big band era” stars such as Tommy Dorsey and eventually came to love Frank Sinatra as if he were a member of the Falvo family.

Josephine relocated to Kissimmee, Florida after her youngest graduated from college where she and Thomas enjoyed spending their days at SeaWorld in Orlando. Thomas passed in 1995 and Josephine eventually remarried Florida resident James Scott and returned to New Jersey.

Josephine’s greatest passion was the care and well-being of her family and she will always be revered for her Italian cooking. She was a giving, caring, self-sacrificing woman who was truly loved by everyone who had the good fortune to know her. Josephine was a source of endless family history which often began with the immigration of her parents to America from Italy, their struggles to survive in the lower Manhattan neighborhood of fellow immigrants, and their subsequent move out of poverty to Brooklyn.

The youngest child of her family, she took pride in her loving relationship with her many siblings. Brothers Tony, Joey, Charlie and Jimmy and sisters Bessie and Lucy. In fact, many of her siblings survived into their nineties and brother Joey reached 100 years of age.

Josephine is survived by her four children, Joann, Cecilia, Frances and George, with their partners Deanna, Lou, Mike and Barbara; her grandchildren, Vincent, Jessica, Francesca, Stephanie, Christopher; and great-grandchild Vincent.

Josephine was a pious and deeply religious woman who is now with her beloved Jesus and Mother Mary after leaving her joyous memory for us all to cherish. She will be missed every minute of every day.

Visitation was May 19 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home in Middletown. A funeral liturgy was offered May 20 at St. Mary, Mother of God RC Church in Middletown. Interment followed at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.
