Julieann Fanning née Tobia of Keansburg, passed away peacefully Sept. 26, 2024, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew her.

Julieann was predeceased by her adoring parents, William and Amelia Tobia, and her beautiful niece Antoinette Tobia. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 30 years, Robert Fanning; daughter Amelia Hunt (Seth); son Mark Bracken Jr. (Abe Vences); six grandchildren, William Martinez, Brianna Martinez, Anastasia Martinez, Ari Hunt, Eva Hunt and Alba Hunt; brothers, William Tobia (Gina) and Martin Tobia; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Julieann loved to laugh and made friends with just about everyone she met. There was no such thing as a stranger to her. In fact, her nickname was “The Mayor,” as everywhere she went she was sure to know someone. She touched the lives of many, offering love and grace to those she met throughout her life.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Nothing was more important to her than showing up for her loved ones. Christmastime was her favorite and she cherished her yearly traditions with her family of making Christmas Eve Taco Rings, just “straightening out” the ornaments on the tree after the grandchildren hung them, making Christmas cookies, watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” and just being present in the moment.

Julieann was also an avid gardener. She took pleasure in sowing and caring for plants and flowers. She could bring back to life any plant that seemed beyond help, a talent that carried over to the way she shared compassion and encouragement with others in their journeys.

Julieann was also a friend of Bill’s for 40 years.

To quote her favorite movie: “Strange isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”
