Karen Rohmeyer Kowitski, 61, of Brick, formerly of Little Silver, passed away peacefully June 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her three children and siblings.

Karen, born Nov. 20, 1963, was a vibrant spirit who lit up every room she entered. She was known for her humor and unwavering love for her family and friends. A talented hairdresser and dedicated salon owner, Karen spent her life making others feel beautiful, both inside and out.

She taught CCD at The Church of the Nativity, where she enjoyed working with children and sharing her faith. Karen was also a true beach lover; her happiest days were spent with the sun on her face and her toes in the sand on the beach in Sea Bright.

Karen’s greatest joy in life was being a mother. She is survived by her beloved children: Amanda, 29; Jenna, 27; and Joseph Jr., 27. Karen is also survived by her siblings: Carl Rohmeyer (Roseann) of Barnegat; Stephen Rohmeyer (Diane) of Deland, Florida; Paul Rohmeyer (Jennifer) of Sea Bright; Lisa Rohmeyer Ames of Jackson; and Andrew Rohmeyer (Ann) of Englishtown; as well as their many children and grandchildren, whom she adored.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Anne Rohmeyer, and her eldest sister, Nancy Rohmeyer Biese.

Karen had a magnetic presence that made everyone feel lucky to know her. She often joked that she was Karen, but not “a Karen.” She had a natural gift for making people laugh, and her sense of humor could turn any moment into something unforgettable. Every room she entered became brighter, filled with the joy of knowing you were in the presence of someone truly one-of-a-kind.

Friends and family were invited to visit June 11 at John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank. A funeral liturgy followed at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12,at The Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven.

Karen’s memory will live on in the lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the spark she brought to every moment. She will be deeply missed.

Karen had a deep love for animals, rescuing and loving numerous dogs throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Monmouth County SPCA in Karen’s honor at monmouthcountyspca.org.
