Kenneth B. Rittershofer, 88, of Locust, passed away Feb. 11, 2025.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Florence Rittershofer, and his wife Carol P. Rittershofer. He is survived by his two daughters, Lynne Layton and Lori Reizer and her husband Tom, her grandchildren Jennifer Dwyer, Jessica Layton, Joseph Reizer, and Jordan Reizer, and his great grandchildren Lily and Liam Dwyer.
Ken was born July 3, 1936, in Newark. He and Carol both graduated from Atlantic Highlands High School in 1955 where they met. Ken attended Monmouth Junior College, served in the U.S. Army, and took basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, before being deployed to Germany.
Ken and Carol married Dec. 21, 1958, so she could go to Germany with him. They were married for almost 65 years.
After serving in the military, Ken worked as a printer for many years and was a 50-year member of New York Typographical Union No. 6. As a side job, he was a painter and handyman and could just about fix anything. He was known as a “good guy” by his many friends and will be deeply missed by all.
