Surrounded by family, Linda Fay Brown joined her God above Nov. 15, 2021, at the age of 66. Born in Long Branch, she recently moved to Lakewood’s Leisure Village after residing in Colts Neck.
Linda grew up in Shrewsbury and was a Red Bank High School graduate. She attended nursing school in Orange and settled in her first nursing job at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. After moving to Indiana in her 20s, her greatest dreams were fulfilled when she became a pediatric nurse in the burn unit at Riley Children’s Hospital and at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent in the pediatric intensive care unit. She loved all children and saw pediatric nursing as her calling. Linda was a woman of deep faith in God and, to all who knew her, she was a caretaker whether she was in a hospital room or at home with family and friends.
She was a beloved member of the Colts Neck Community Church where she found her spiritual home and a renewed sense of community. Linda loved gardening and was also a wonderful cook who loved baking many of her mother’s favorite recipes from the cherished family recipe box.
Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren, Ashley and Austin, whose pictures, artwork and keepsakes surrounded her at home. It was her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Heather, a gift from above whom she loved to the moon and back, whose love for her gave her purpose in difficult times.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Lindal and Joyce Brown of Oceanport; her sister Carolyn Brown of Colts Neck (the former owner of Brown’s Heating, Cooling and Plumbing); and her brother Joseph who died in infancy.
Linda is survived by her brothers, Larry Brown of Hazlet and Douglas Brown of Asbury Park; her son Jason and wife Heather Vaught; grandchildren Ashley and Austin of Zionsville, IN; aunts Suzie Carr of Palm Desert, California, Carol Rector of Crawfordville, Indiana, Irene Brown of Louisville, Kentucky, Barbara Brown of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Betty Brown of Indianapolis; and so many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29 at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Colts Neck Community Church, 25 Merchants Way, Colts Neck.
