Lois Marie Lingsch passed away peacefully March 19, 2022 at the age of 93. Lois was born April 17, 1928 in Orange to Leon and Mable Sturgis. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Lingsch, after 60 years of marriage.

In addition to being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lois was a lifelong educator, graduating from Kean University (formerly Newark State Teacher’s College) in 1949, teaching primarily in the Middletown school system and retiring in 1990. Lois and her family lived in Belford for 25 years, in Highlands for 15 years and in Holiday City West for 16 years; for the past eight year she lived with her daughter in Highlands.

Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlantic Highlands where she taught Sunday School for several years. After retiring to Toms River, she attended the First Presbyterian Church of Toms River. Lois was an avid reader and great poem writer. She enjoyed writing poems for special occasions. You could give her a few facts about something and she would compose the perfect poem for the occasion, be it a birthday, wedding or retirement.

She loved traveling with her husband and brought back mementos from around the world for her family. Lois could often be found at the beach, one of her favorite places. Throughout her life, Lois always had pets and a fondness for animals. Lois will be lovingly remembered as a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

In addition to her husband, Charles, Lois was preceded in death by her mother Mabel at a young age, and was raised by her Aunt Laura who also predeceased her, along with her father, Leon. She was also predeceased by her son, Bruce Robert and her grandson, Sean Michael.

She is survived by her children Stephen (Steve) and his wife Deborah of Baltimore, Maryland, William (Bill) and his wife Lana of Diamondhead, Missouri, and Donna Alvator of Highlands. She leaves six special grandchildren: Jenna and her husband Brett; Kelsey and her husband Eric; Allison and her husband Josh; Danielle; Joshua and his wife Silvia; and Brad; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister Phyllis Truseak.

A special thank you to hospice and the people who provided care to our mother, especially Jean Kodman and Mary Froncek at Bayside Manor.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A funeral service will conclude the afternoon around 2 p.m. and a private cremation will follow.
