Louise S. Whitfield of Rumson and Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away April 2, 2023, with her son Ron at her side. She was born Aug. 27, 1929, and graduated from Rumson High School in 1946 where she was a drum majorette in the marching band.
In 1948 on Easter Sunday she married Paul Whitfield of Eatontown. She and Paul enjoyed over 71 years of married life.
Louise was very active at Christ Church United Methodist where through the years she served as lay member to the annual conference, chair of the Administrative Council, financial secretary, and was a member of the church choir and bell choir for many years. She was a great encouragement to many throughout her life, even in her last days.
Louise was predeceased by Paul in 2019, and her daughter Catherine, daughter-in-law Cynthia, father George Schultz, mother May Ether, stepfather Elmer Ether, sister Dorothy McAndrew and brother William Ether.
She is survived by her daughter Sarah of Hampstead, Maryland; son Ronald of Rumson and North Ft. Myers, Florida; son and daughter-in-law James and Robin of Boynton Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister Elizabeth Obermann and partner Bernard Keany of Newport, Vermont; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Christ Church United Methodist, 300 Ridge Road, Fair Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to Adopt-a-Senior at adopt-a-senior.org/get_involved or a charity of your choice.
Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank has been entrusted with the arrangements.
