Lynn Brager Phelan

Lynn Brager Phelan of Fair Haven left us after a short illness Jan. 30, 2021. She was born in Newark and resided in Fair Haven since 1978. Lynn was a 1958 Columbia High School graduate in Maplewood where she met her beloved, lifelong friends Ginger, Kay, Jane, Rosemary, Judy, Nadia, Mickey and Diane. 

Lynn and her husband Barry were married for 60 years and raised their three children in New Jersey and Ohio before settling in Fair Haven. Lynn was a talented and accomplished decorative arts painter, creating many beautiful works of art on wood and canvas. After raising her three children, Lynn became a human resources specialist at AT&T Bell Labs and was very successful, receiving several promotions. She retired after 18 years in 1999.

Lynn was predeceased by her Norwegian parents Leif and Jenny Brager and beloved sister, Berit. 

Lynn was a wonderful mother and devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband Barry; her daughter Suzanne Caruso and her husband Joe; her son J. Greg Phelan and his wife Kristina; and her daughter Patti Scanlon and her husband Steve. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Jamie, Jenny, Jake, Madison, John and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Mason and Charlotte.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 6 at the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to ASLAN Youth Ministry (where Lynn served as a tutor for many years) P.O. Box 270, Red Bank, NJ 07701.

Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
