Margaret Lamb Maguire, of Rumson, passed away on Thursday, March 17 in the comfort of her home with the complete love of her family. Margaret was born in the Bronx, New York. Her family moved to North Plainfield when she was five years old. She was a Fair Haven resident for over 50 years.

She was an extremely bright woman, skipping two grades and graduating North Plainfield High School at 16 years old. She graduated Seton Hall University with her bachelors in nursing. Margaret began her nursing career at the VNA in Plainfield as a public health nurse. While she was both a part-time and full time school nurse at Monmouth Regional High School, she pursued her masters in social work. She began her social work career at MRHS in 1977. In 1989 she retired to spend more time with her family.
Margaret was an avid bridge player and loved the daily challenges of crossword puzzles. She loved to embed herself with current events in great detail; thus, creating intriguing conversations with her favorite son-in-law. She loved her special Sunday night dinners. She had complete knowledge on so many topics.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Teresa Cecilia McDonald Lamb and James Francis Lamb; and her sister, Dorothea Lamb Bailey. She was also predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Philip E. Maguire Jr.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Ann Maguire Lawes and son-in-law, William D. Lawes of Rumson. Also surviving are the apples of her eyes – her devoted grandchildren, Katelin Lawes Tanzi and her husband Christopher Tanzi of Fair Haven, Teresa Lawes Phillips and her husband Keith Phillips of Rumson, Coady Ann Lawes of Rumson and William D. Lawes Jr. of New York City. Margaret knew how extremely fortunate she was to enjoy her three darling great-grandchildren, James Tanzi, Paige Phillips and Charlotte Phillips.

Memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association or VNA of Central Jersey. Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.
