Margaret M. Hemberger

Margaret M. Hemberger, 91, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at her home June 23, 2021. She was born in Long Branch and was a 1948 graduate of Long Branch High School. Marge married her beloved husband, William F. Hemberger, in 1950 and they settled in Middletown. She worked as a budget analyst for the Department of the Army, Fort Monmouth for 30-plus years, retiring in 1993.

Marge and Bill enjoyed traveling in their travel trailer, square dancing and spending time with family and friends. They were members of the Middletown Ramblers Square Dance Club. Marge continued to dance and teach square dancing into her late 80s. She also volunteered at the Board of Elections. Her smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband William F. Hemberger. 

Surviving are her four children, William Hemberger and his wife Maria, Gary Hemberger and his wife Barbara, Mary Movelle and her husband Richard and Paul Hemberger. She is also survived by six grandchildren, William Hemberger and his wife Heather, Hillary Herzig and her husband Brian, Matthew Movelle and his wife Amanda, Megan Movelle, Samantha Hemberger and Holly Hemberger; and six great-grandchildren, Quinn, Everett and Savannah Hemberger and Finnian, Brigid and Brendon Herzig. Marge is also survived by her brother-in-law Joseph Hemberger, who provided her friendship and care for many years. 

Visitation was held June 30 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy was offered July 1 at Mary Mother of God Church, Middletown. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. 

In lieu of flowers a contribution in Margaret’s name can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
