Born July 18, 1927, Margaret “Marge” Mary Sokol, a Monmouth Beach resident of 50 years, passed peacefully in her sleep June 27, 2022, with family at her side. She was 94 years old. While Marge had moved to Sedona, Arizona, in 2020 to be closer to her children, her reminiscences of her years in Monmouth Beach were filled with joyful recollections of her dearest neighbors and friends.
Marge worked at the Hollywood Golf Club for over 25 years and considered her coworkers and club members her “second family.” She often spoke of the love and kindness she shared with Hollywood’s members and staff.
No formal services will be held, as Marge wanted to be celebrated by her friends and family with a toast on her upcoming birthday, July 18. So please feel free to raise a glass privately that day to wish Marge a bon voyage. Marge lived life fully and would love to be remembered for her wit, generosity and joie de vivre.
Marge is survived by her four children, John, Dann, Cynthia and Nina; her nephew Steve; her seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
