Marilyn L. Jagny-Schmidt, 98, passed away Feb. 14, 2023, in her home with her loved ones by her side, after a very lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was predeceased by her father Louis Jagny and by her mother Ethel Lundrigan, both of Montreal, Canada; and by her husband George T. Schmidt of Lincroft. She is survived by her son Louis Schmidt of Mount Dora, Florida.

Marilyn was born on Dominion Day (July 1, 1924) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and immigrated to the United States in 1953. She first resided in Red Bank, moving to Lincroft in 1970, then to Felton, Pennsylvania, in 1994, and finally to Mount Dora, Florida in 2005. In 1961, Marilyn became a naturalized American citizen.

Marilyn earned a degree in fashion design at the Maurice Fashion Arts Academy in Montreal; she later started another career at Canadian Bell and then at New Jersey Bell. She left her career to become a full-time homemaker and mother.

At age 56 when most people are planning retirement, Marilyn reentered the workforce and in 1994 she retired from the technical library at AT&T Bell Labs in Holmdel. Marilyn was an active member of the Holmdel Bell Labs Rosary Club, AT&T Pioneers and helped support the ASPCA.

A private service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to help pay her funeral and other expenses. They can be sent to Louis Schmidt, P.O. Box 753, Mount Dora, FL 32756 or through GoFundMe at gofund.me/69ca262b.
